Last Week at JPII - 01/27/25
We love babies, yes we do! We love babies, how ‘bout you? This week, St. John Paul II Academy high schoolers, parents, faculty, and friends traveled to Washington, DC to join in the 52nd National March for Life. What a gift to be part of the joyful witness to the pro-life movement!
Jan 27, 2025 - It was a busy week at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.
What a week it has been! On Monday, St. John Paul II Academy highschoolers and students from Roncalli Catholic, accompanied by JPII faculty and parents, departed by train to attend the National March for Life in DC. They arrived on Tuesday and spent several days in the greater DC area, sightseeing and visiting notable locations.
On Wednesday, travelers visited the Dominican House of Studies and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, and enjoyed seeing some of Catholic University of America’s campus in the process.
On Thursday, students, parents, and faculty enjoyed a morning visit to Christendom College, including holy Mass in the chapel of Christ the King, an Admissions presentation, and a walking tour of campus.
Thursday afternoon was spent exploring the National Mall in DC, including visits to the Lincoln Memorial, The National Gallery of Art, and The Air and Space Museum. The day wrapped up with everyone attending the Life is Very Good Rally to joyfully celebrate the gift of life in anticipation of Friday’s March.
The culmination of the trip was the National March for Life on Friday! The JPII convoy joined a throng of nearly 150,000 to peacefully demonstrate and pray for an end to abortion in a post-Roe America. We are so grateful that these members of the growing JPII community took up the challenge to travel across the country to bear witness to the dignity of the unborn!
Here on the Nebraska home front, things on campus were lively - as usual!
On Wednesday, JPII elementary and middle schoolers took some time during their lunch hour to kneel in prayerful adoration before the Blessed Sacrament as part of the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. They prayed especially for the safety of our high school students, parents, and faculty as they traveled to DC.
Below on the left, 1st and 2nd grade practiced drawing birds for the upcoming Audubon Art Contest. On the right, Miss Hare taught 1st-4th grade girls some soccer drills during Girl's Leadership.
This week, Mr. Ramsgard taught 5th and 6th graders how to use woodworking hand tools. They will apply these skills to build birdhouses!
Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
