Last Week at JPII - 02/17/25
A person is a person, no matter how…silly! Kindergarten learned about aperson’s inherent worth, and made a list stating how our differences don’t change our dignity.
Feb 17, 2025 - It was a busy week at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.
Earlier this week, 7th and 8th grade took a History field trip to the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trails Headquarters Visitor Center. A major highlight for all was the spontaneous recitation of the opening of Beowulf on the Nebraska-Iowa Pedestrian Bridge - capturing the authentic joy and freedom of real education.
Girls and boys leadership combined forces this week to make beeswax candles with Mr. Fletcher! Students enjoyed a brief lesson on where beeswax comes from and how it is harvested, decorated their candle holders, placed the wick, and picked the color of their candle.
And perhaps the most exciting highlight of the week, Griffins of all ages got to enjoy their first snow day of the year! Thank you to families for sharing your snow day fun with us!
The snow fun has continued, even at school! A 1st grader showcases her mini snowman, and Dr. Fletcher joined the K-4 students for part of outdoor recess to play soccer in the snow.
Our 3-4 Grade braved the weather on Friday and had a fantastic visit to the Henry Doorly Zoo. Having just wrapped up a reptiles unit in science, they spent most of their time visiting the Desert Dome and the Lied Jungle.
Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
