Last Week at JPII - 12/9/24
Dec 9, 2024 - It was a busy week at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.
Students helped out the St. Peter St. Vincent de Paul Christmas giving initiative by participating in a service project this week to make gifts to give to 100, mostly elderly, residents in a downtown Omaha low income housing apartment complex. Students in 8th grade and high school created Christmas trees from pine cones, while the 7th grade students had fun making the reindeer gift bags.
Below, on the left, 1st and 2nd grade working on a service project of their own: fleece tie blankets for the homeless! On the right, K-2 enjoys choir practice with Miss Mellender in preparation for Lessons and Carols on the 20th.
This week, in Boys’ Leadership, 1st-4th grade boys spent time carving and wood-burning detailed designs into their walking sticks.
High school girls and female faculty enjoyed a High Tea on Monday at Magdala, the Missionary Educator House. They also enjoyed an Advent meditation by Miss Mellender, participated in Lectio Divina, and played a card game. They wrapped up the night with a trip to the movies to see Moana 2. It was a lovely evening of fun and friendship.
Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
