Last Week at JPII - 12/16/24

Shoutout to the JPII moms who spent time decorating the school for Advent! Thank you for helping us live liturgically!

Dec 16, 2024 - It was a busy week at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.

Some of our upper school students gave the public a preview of JPII’s upcoming Lessons and Carols with a brief performance at the Durham Museum. They performed a six part Magnificat, and Lully, Lulla, Lullay by Phillip Stopford. The music was lovely, and we are looking forward to hearing the whole school sing together this Friday evening.

In lower school art classes this week, 1st and 2nd grade created their own St. Nicholas figures to take home, while Kindergarten worked on some winter themed watercolors.

Lots of fun happened on Thursday! 5th and 6th grade enjoyed a fun field trip to the Zoo this week with our beloved Mr. Ramsgard. Kindergarten-4th also enjoyed their own field trip to see The Nutcracker by the American Midwest Ballet at The Orpheum.

To finish out the week, the school celebrated St. Lucy’s feast day on Friday. In keeping with the traditional Scandinavian celebration of the feast, the two littlest Lucy’s in our school community dressed up, donned wreath crowns, and served sweet treats to the whole school.

Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
