Last Week at JPII - 12/23/24
Thanks to the students, parents, and our choir director, Mr. Aidan Fletcher, for beautiful and moving performance of Lessons & Carols. Read below for more information, and see more pictures here.
Dec 23, 2024 - It was a busy week at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.
JPII Students thoroughly impressed at Advent Lessons and Carols 2024! From the chilling rendition of the Coventry Carol by our Upper School, down to our Lower School’s enthusiastic “Venite Adoremus!” during our final carol, the evening was filled with prayer and joy as we prepared our hearts for the entrance of the Christ child. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make the evening such a success, especially to our music teachers Mr. Fletcher and Miss Mellender! Click the following links to see recordings of "Adeste Fideles" and “Lully, Lulla, Lullay” from our students, recorded during rehearsal for Advent Lessons and Carols (which also happened to be Christmas Sweater Day).
“Quis fecerit? Who done it?” - Below on the right, 7th and 8th grade donned their detective caps in a game of Latin Clue before their last Latin test of 2024. Below on the left, a smiling 3rd and 4th grade with Miss Hare during a white elephant exchange on “festive sweater day.”
In Girls Leadership, students took some time to complete their woodworking projects by painting and wood-burning their names into the birdhouses they built a couple weeks ago. Meanwhile, Boys Leadership braved the winds and cold with a winter hike in Fontenelle Forest!
Dcn. Brian Hula from the Archdiocese of Omaha visited classrooms on Thursday and brought his accordion! Kindergarten through 4th grade enjoyed singing and dancing to Christmas carols and classic tunes.
Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
